Recommended 7 Days / 6 Nights

Overview

Sample Trip Outline

1 Machame Gate (1,800m) – Machame Camp (3,000m)

Depart Arusha for Machame Gate and begin your trek through lush rainforest. The trail ascends steadily with glimpses of blue monkeys and exotic flora. Arrive at Machame Camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

2 Machame Camp – Shira Camp (3,840m)

After breakfast, continue the climb up a steeper path into moorland. The forest thins out and gives way to stunning views of Shira Plateau. Reach Shira Camp in the afternoon and acclimatize while enjoying the alpine landscape.

3 Shira Camp – Lava Tower (4,630m) – Barranco Camp (3,950m)

Trek up to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. This day helps your body adjust to higher altitudes. The Barranco Valley offers some of the most beautiful scenery on the route.

4 Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (4,035m)

Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall. Enjoy stunning views of glaciers and valleys before continuing through rocky terrain to Karanga Camp. This shorter day aids acclimatization and recovery.

5 Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,640m)

Make your way to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit. Prepare your gear and rest before your midnight summit attempt. Early dinner and early sleep are essential for the next day’s challenge.

6 Barafu – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Begin the final push to the summit at midnight. After reaching Stella Point, continue to Uhuru Peak — the highest point in Africa. Celebrate and descend back to Barafu, then to Mweka Camp for well-deserved rest.

7 Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Transfer to Arusha

Enjoy your last breakfast on the mountain before descending through the forest to Mweka Gate. After signing out and receiving your summit certificate, you’ll be transferred back to Arusha, concluding your epic journey.
